A little help...

Hey, folks. Am I the only one who thinks this site could use a massive redesign? I've had a contributor account here for years now and it's come down to only the google calendar being relevant on any given listless night or day.

I'd like to see what other subscribers, contributors and viewers think of this. The blog does little in outreach outside of Cleveland, honestly, and hasn't for a long time.

Or maybe the blog is dead: kottke.org/13/12/rip-the-blog-1997-2013

I think it's difficult for this blog to be effective when the writers don't write anything. What once had a plethora of voices all contributing to the chatter has slowly been reduced to one with a few occasional posts by others. If "the blog does little in outreach outside of Cleveland, honestly, and hasn't for a long time," which is possibly true, then where are the writers who are attempting that outreach. Where are the discussions that are being had elsewhere, and why aren't they being posted on this blog?

Well, it may be more effective to run a forum-based website with threads than a blog. And much more better for networking and accomplishing a promotion of Cleveland writers. Especially if it's conversation that's lacking. Don't get me wrong, I like updates and the fact that this site is even still here, but, yes, it is dying.

Worth a try. Not all forums take off; I've been a member of other groups that have announced with great satisfaction the addition of a forum to their website, and discovered that nobody posts there- there's a certain critical mass needed, and if there aren't enough posters in the blog, I'm not sure if there would be enough to keep a forum vibrant, either.
But, sure, why not try it?
