From Mike Credico and our friends at the Ohio Center for the Book at Cleveland Public Library:
I wanted to let you know that we'll be hosting an open mic poetry reading on Saturday, August 30th from 3-5 PM here at the Ohio Center for the Book. We're offering this as an alternative to the other, better-known, airshow (although it will be in full view). We did something similar last year, by accident, and it turned out to be a very positive, powerful experience for participants.
We're hoping to have a bunch of readers, so if you're in the area this upcoming Labor Day weekend, stop by!

Hello I am new to the area, and I am looking for an open poetry reading. Will there be more opportunities like this in the future?
Last Exit Books in Kent, Ohio, is having open poetry on September 19th at 8 pm, https://www.facebook.com/groups/275521006684052
Thank you John, I’m Geoff Hill. I am from Kent. Born and raised, RHS class of 97. I just moved to Cleveland Heights. I am in Kent often, so thank you for the info.
Many years ago, I frequented Brady’s Cafe in Kent for open mic night. I enjoyed the poetry readings very much, as well as the opportunity to play my music there too.
I have a long poem I wrote a decade ago called The Beauty in Reincarnation that I want to share with others. It’s a deep and special part of me, and I hope others could appreciate my story.
I have never published any poetry, nor have I recited this poem in front of a group. Public speaking has been a challenge for me, but this opportunity can help me overcome my reservations.
I will definitely visit Last Exit Books. I joined their Facebook group, so I now have their info. Thanks again 🙏
