It's so jejune to be a fan of Billy Collins these days, but for those of us who aren't afraid to like a poet just because he's gotten popular, the Writers Center Stage series sponsored by the Cuyahoga County Public Library Foundation and Cleveland State University will be bringing Billy Collins to the Ohio Theatre at Playhouse Square on November 8.Tickets are $30... if you think that's a lot of cash to go hear a writer, hey, at least I'm glad to see writers get the star treatment...

Thirty bucks is a lot of cash to hear these writers.
Unless it is thirty bucks to hear all six.
So, who decided that poetry should be cheap? And poets mostly unpaid?
And how do we change that]?
No one is saying people shouldn't get paid but I have to tell you, these writers aren't worth the money. For the same price I can see a top notch band or a decent orchestra. Billy Collins? Annie Lamont? Boring and bore after bore. And those two are the big names.
