Ohio Writer's Conference at TrueNorth Cultural Arts

The first-ever Ohio Writer’s Conference will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2011 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at TrueNorth Cultural Arts in Sheffield Village, Ohio. Whether you’re an experienced writer or someone who is just starting to enjoy the power of the pen, there is something here for you, with interactive workshops in fiction, nonfiction, poetry, playwriting and nature writing taught by friendly, encouraging pros who are eager to help you. Other features include an open mic, advice on songwriting, a bookstore where you can browse and buy and more.

Workshop leaders include two-time captain of National Poetry Slam Championship teams, Ray McNiece; Pushcart Prize nominee and New York Times Notable Book of the Year winner Sarah Willis; American Society of Journalists and Authors member Kelly Boyer Sagert, who has thousands of published credits, including 11 books; playwright, singer, actress and songwriter Kim Ceja; and author, playwright and nature writer Gary Gerrone.

The cost of this entire experience is $60, which include a light breakfast, lunch and free admission to a fun, interactive performance by Ray McNiece from 7 to 8 p.m. (and open mic from 8 to 9 p.m.)

If you just want the McNiece performance and subsequent open mic, the cost is $10.
